How is the exam composed?

 

Spanish DELE exam in Spain, Madrid

The six levels are submitted to the same series of tests:
        • Reading comprehension
        • Written expression
        • Listening comprehension
        • Grammar and vocabulary
        • Oral expression

 

 

The tests are composed as the following:


Nivel A1

- 45 min. of Reading Comprehension
  • Answer with the right choice to 9 multiple choice questions based on 3 texts, never longer than 800 words.
  • Refer to up to 10 series of texts extracts.
- 25 min. of Written Expression
  • Write a simple and personal text, write simple sentences about personal information and write notes and other basic things.
- 20 min. of Reading Comprehension
  • The candidate will be given 4 tasks based on general ideas and simple sentences, read slowly and clearly. Choose the right option.
- 15 min. of oral expression
  • The candidate will accomplish 4 tasks in 15 minutes. With the first two, the candidate will provide basic information about himself. With the second two, he will accomplish several conversation exchanges with the interviewer, who will cooperate and speak clearly. The candidate will perform the tasks starting from graphics material and following the interviewer's advice and intructions.

Nivel A2:

- 50 min. of Reading Comprehension. The candidate will:
  • Write texts with simple sentences like rules, instructions or restaurant menú.
  • Answer choosing the right option to a multiple choice questionnaire based on short texts.
  • Recognize nouns, words or sentences and catch the general meaning of informative material or instructions.
- 50 min. of Written Expression. The candidate will:
  • Fill out a form with personal information in a proper way.
  • Write a letter about his family and personal environment.
  • Write a descriptive or narrative text based on the given information.
- 25 min. of Listening Comprehension
  • The candidate will be given 5 tasks to catch the genaral idea of simple statements, radio posts or telephone conversations transmitted in a clear way.
- 15 min. of oral expression
  • The candidate will accomplish 4 tasks. With the first two, the candidate will provide basic information about practical aspects and daily routine. With the third, he will take part to a brief conversation and with the last one, to an informal conversation based on a simulated situation.
Nivel B1:

-    40 min. of Reading Comprehension
  •      Multiple choice questions based on texts.
  •      Answering questions by getting information from a text.
-    50 min. of Written Expression
  •       Writing simple and practical texts such as notes, notices, and postcards,.Spanish DELE exam questions, Spain Madrid
-    30 min. of Listening Comprehension
  •       Multiple choice questions on a simple conversation or recorded information.
-    40 min. of Grammar and Vocabulary
  •       Relate several sentences to the corresponding situations.
  •       Find the words or expressions which are not appropriate in the context.
  •       Insert missing words in texts from multiple choice.
-    10 min. of oral expression
  •       Talk with the examiners about a picture or photograph for ten minutes.
Nivel B2:

-    60 min. of reading comprehension
  •      12 multiple choice questions based on four texts, never longer than 450 words.
-    60 min. of written expression (writing small texts)
  •      Writing both a letter and an essay, no longer than 150-200 words.Spanish writing exam DELE, Spain Madrid
-    30 min. of listening comprehension (with multiple choice questionnaires)
  •      Twelve multiple choice questions based on four recordings.
-    60 min. of grammar and vocabulary
  •       Fill in the blank spaces in a text from multiple choices.
  •       Fill in the blank spaces in sentences (grammar and vocabulary).
-    10/15 min. of oral expression (interview with a jury)
  •      Talk with the examiners about a picture or photograph for ten minutes.
Nivel C1:

- 80 min. of reading comprehension. The candidate will:
  • Understand the general idea and specific information in public and professional context (700-800 words), and choosing the correct answer to a multiple choice questionnaire.
  • Reconstruct the structure and indentify the relations among ideas in long texts (600-700 words), completing paragraphs with long sentences.
  • Identify the content and intention or point of view in news, articles and reports (600-700 words), about professional and academic fields, choosing the correct answer to a multiple choice questionnaire.
  • Identify specific and relevant information in short texts (100-150 words), which report facts about academic issues, linking the given texts with short sentences.
  • Identify proper structures and lexicon in a long text with complete linguistic repertoire (400-450 words).
- 80 min. of written expression:
  • With the first task the candidate will write an argumentative and/or expositive text of a lenght of 220-250 words, starting from the content of a verbal text (conference, statement or presentation), stating the general ideas in a clear, detailed and well structured way.
  • With the second task, the candidate will write a long formal text (200-250) starting from a written input (announcements, instructions, summary of opinion pieces), which helps to give a context and delimit it, stating the arguments, main ideas, the secondary ones and details in a clear, detailed and well structured way.
- 30 min. of listening comprehension. The candidate:
  • Will be given 5 tasks to understand the main points of a text and extract specific information, identify in brief monologues the person who speaks, his attitude, willingness or intentions and catching the main sense of what he says, extracting concrete and detailed information.
  • Will complete sentences with words or phrases and answer choosing the the correct answer to a multiple choice questionnaire.
- 20 min. of oral expression (interview with a jury)
  • The candidate will accomplish 3 tasks. With the first he will do a monologue starting from a text. With the second, a formal debate will be carried out from the previous task. With the third, the candidate will take part to a formal conversation with the interviewer, starting from visual inputs.
Nivel C2:

-   60 min. of reading comprehension
  •      Nine multiple choice questions based on 3 texts, never longer than 800 words.
  •      Refer to up to 10 series of texts extracts.
-    60 min. of written expression (writing small texts)
  •      Write a formal letter and an essay, no longer than 150-200 words.Spanish oral exam DELE, Spain Madrid
-    45 min. of listening comprehension (with multiple choice questionnaires)
  •      Twelve multiple choice questions on four recordings.
-    60 min. of grammar and vocabulary
  •      A multiple choice text.
  •      35 multiple choice sentences.

-    10 /15 min of oral expression (interview with a jury)
  •      Hold a conversation with the examiners for 10-15 minutes.
