What DELE Exam level should I chose? The level of DELE you chose to obtain depends on your objectives and on your general Spanish language skills. This certificate is very complete, as the different parts of all three exams involve testing reading, writing and speaking skills. The Inicial level shows good bases and an ability to understand most of current conversations. It is described as the beginning of autonomy: you can get along and express your point of view, etc. You will be tested on every day life vocabulary, basic grammar and your capacity to answer and make yourself understand by others. The Intermedio level requires ease and fluency using the language. It is referred to as the level of independence in the use of the language: you can understand a large range of long and demanding texts, and understand implicit meanings. You can use the language quite fluently in your academic, professional and personal life, structure your speech and address complex themes. The Superior level certifies a total control of the language. You are able to understand everything you hear and read, tell and summarise facts from different sources (newspapers, TV, radio…) and express yourself without difficulty. Your grammar is correct and your vocabulary precise allowing the use and understanding of idiomatic subtleties.
