Intensive Spanish Studies

Since we know from experience that many of our gap year students value the possiblity of learning Spanish intensively and acquiring fluency in the Spanish language, our school offers several different programs in Madrid to gain proficiency in written and spoken Spanish and at the same time soak in Madrid´s lifestyle, culture, people and costums.

Some of our gap year students plan to stay in Spain after finishing their gap year either to work or to study at a Spanish university. Others fancy a university stay abroad at a Latin American university instead. Still others prefer simply to have extra classroom time during their gap year and book additional individual and personal classes.

For this reason, aside from the 12-week Gap Year Spanish Course, which all of our gap year students take at the beginning of their program, we also offer several courses for students who are aiming for these specific higher levels of expertise in the Spanish language:

  • University Preparation Course for a Spanish and/or Latin American university – This course provides the gap year student with all necessary skills for taking up academic study in a Spanish and/or Latin American university.  These include core language skills (reading, listening, writing, and speaking), the main skills for scientifc study (note-taking techniques, research, bibliographies and references, etc.), and vocabulary in a specific area (IT, economics, etc.).
  • Intensive Spanish Course – This course especially aimed at students who learn best in classroom-based lessons and are guaranteed to maximise time spent studying and practicing Spanish in Madrid.

  •  Individual Spanish Course – The personal attention which comes from one-to-one tuition makes Individual Spanish courses ideally suited for students who want to focus their learning on a specialised subject area such as business Spanish or marketing, who are preparing for exams and those who want to increase their confidence in Spanish. 
Furthermore, our well equipped Self-Study Center ensures ambitious gap year students have access to an ideal environment in which to study effectively and facillitates more rapid progress.

All AIL Madrid, the Spanish courses available to you on your gap year stay in Madrid can be combined with our free Living Spanish Program. This gives the student the opportunity to practise the Spanish learned in class by participating in cultural and social activities like eating out on tapas evenings, visiting museums and contemporary exhibitons, viewing Spanish film and theater, and speaking to native Spanish speakers on language exchange (intercambios). These types of activities are greatly appreciated by our gap year students, since they allow the student to get an insight into Spanish culture and tradition.
