At AIL Madrid we pride ourselves in our Spanish and Dance course. We offer a wide variety of dance classes to satisfy all interests. Not only do we offer the traditional
Salsa,
Tango,
Flamenco and
Sevillanas but also virtually any other type of dance such as Bachata, Samba, Rumbo and Cha-cha-cha. If you are interested in any other dance, please
get in touch and we will endeavour to accommodate you.
Whether you have never danced before in your life or you have an advanced level in dancing, we have what you need. We cater for all levels (beginners, intermediate, advanced) so that we can offer you what fits you best.
We also offer individual dance lessons for those who want a more personalised class. With one-to-one dance classes you will have the full attention of your teacher, who will help you perfect your dance skills and generally help you learn faster.
You can
start your dance courses any Monday of the year. And there is no need for you to come with a partner – there are always other single students of the opposite sex to pair you up with.
Your dance classes are typically scheduled in the evening, as it is a perfect way to relax after a hard day’s work. The exact time of your dance lessons will depend on the dances you have chosen and you will be given your complete timetable upon arrival in Madrid.
AIL Madrid will contact you two weeks prior to the start of the course to discuss your preferred dance options.
Note: As the dance classes are held in Spanish with Spanish people, AIL Madrid recommends this course only to students who have at least an intermediate level of Spanish.
Our Spanish and Latin dance theory lessons consist of 2 classroom based dance classes per week. These classes are varied with topics including:
- history and origin of Spanish and Latin American dance
- the role of dance in Spanish and Latin American culture
- regional Spanish dances
- Spanish and Latin American dance etiquette
- dance specific vocabulary such as un paso hacia un lado (a side step), un giro (a pivot), and una milonga (Latin American dance party)
The Spanish and Latin American dance theory classes are important in order for you to be able to fully understand and appreciate Spanish dance culture. They will also help you learn all the vocabulary you will need for your practical dance classes and help you advance much quicker.
Dance theory is taught by AIL Madrid teachers, who have a strong interest in, and are very knowledgeable about, Spanish and Latin dance.
