Post Graduate Programs

Graduating from University is a very exciting time and our Spanish courses are therefore designed to maximise fun whilst helping you gain skills and/or qualifications that will provide you with better opportunities for the future. Madrid is a wonderful city to experience – it’s close enough to home for you to be able to see your friends and family, whilst its culture and weather will make you feel a million miles away. We have designed four unique post graduate experiences and will work with you to meet your dreams and goals.

1. The Madrid Experience

1.1. Overview of the course

Our Madrid programme is specifically designed for those graduates who want to live and thrive in the city that never sleeps! The course includes our intensive Spanish classes and daily fun afternoon activities. This course is all about improving your Spanish in the shortest time possible whilst also using the skills that you have learnt in the classroom.

1.2. Why is the fun afternoon activities programme so important?

Because it gets your out there, living, breathing and experiencing the language - your cognitive path ways will be on fire! The programme should really be called our ‘Spanish experience’ programme, as the activities have been designed to ensure that you continue to learn whilst having fun and experimenting with the language. We are also very aware that studying at our school is more than just about the classes. It is about feeling part of the culture, meeting new people and having a great time. Visiting the Madrid museums will give you your culture fix whilst our famous (or should we say infamous) ‘noche de copas’ will certainly tick the boxes for meeting new people, getting to know your classmates and enjoying the nightlife of Madrid*.

*Disclaimer: Spanish wine only gives your temporary native speaking skills and should not be thought of as permanent!

1.3. Timetable of your Madrid Experience Programme

  • 20 Spanish classes per week (from Monday to Friday in the morning or in the afternoon).
  • There are a maximum of 8 students in each Spanish class and an average of 6 – these are some of the lowest figures in Madrid.
  • 10 sessions per week of our Fun Afternoon Activities (usually daily from 17:00 to 18:40). These activities are fun and interesting and as well as having the opportunity to get to know your fellow students better, you can also put your Spanish skills into action!

2. The Dance Experience

2.1. Overview of the course

Our Spanish and Dance Program is a unique Spanish post graduate course that combines fun and learning – two things which go hand in hand. The course is split between our Spanish school, where you will learn and improve your Spanish, and a professional Spanish dance academy. Previous students have said that the dance program, whilst being great fun, has really helped them to understand Spanish culture and forced them to put their Spanish skills into practice, which has ultimately given their level an extra boost.

2.2. What type of Dance Diva do you want to be?

We offer a wide range of traditional and modern dance classes, including Flamenco, Salsa, Tango and Sevillanas. However, don’t feel like you have to limit yourself to one dance discipline - you can take as many as you want!
From previous experience though, we have found that most students fall in love with one or two dance styles and choose to focus on these. If you are unsure about what is involved in the dances or would like to find out more information, then visit our Spanish and Dance website to see what’s currently hot.

2.3. Timetable of the Spanish and Dance Programme

  • 20 Spanish classes per week (from Monday to Friday in the morning or in the afternoon).
  • There is a maximum of 8 students in each class and an average of 6 – these are some of the lowest figures in Madrid.
  • 5 practical dance classes per week.
  • 10 sessions per week of our Fun Afternoon Activities (usually daily from 17:00 to 18:40). These activities are fun and interesting and as well as having the opportunity to get to know your fellow students better, you can also put your Spanish skills into action!

4. The study Experience

4.1. Overview of the course

The UK is lagging behind in the race to become a nation of bi-linguists, so if you are interested in this course then you already know that speaking two languages will give you a competitive edge socially, professionally and academically. However, in these challenging times, simply saying that you can speak Spanish is often not enough. The DELE exam (Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera) is the only official Spanish exam and it is governed by the Instituto Cervantes. AIL Madrid is an Instituto Cervantes accredited school (which is a rarity, because the requirements to achieve this accreditation are extremely high) and we also offer DELE preparation courses. Once you successfully complete the exam, you will be awarded a certificate from the Instituto Cervantes which is proof of your level and competency in Spanish – exactly what you need to show your language capabilities to potential post graduate employers.

4.2. I speak Spanish, but what if I am not very good at exams?

Post Graduate Spanish Course Classes

Our Students preparing to take the DELE exam
 in the Preparation Course

As with all exams, passing can be as much about being in the right frame of mind on the day as your level of Spanish. Therefore, we hold all of our courses in the weeks directly preceding the exam dates to ensure that you are at your peak performance on the day of your exam. These are not general Spanish classes with a bit of exam preparation thrown in - you will be in DELE exam boot camp! Most of our DELE graduates combine our intensive Spanish courses to reach the level they require and then complete the DELE preparation courses which is why we had an exceptional pass rate of 80% in 2010/11. Susana, the Spanish Director of Studies atAIL Madrid, will work closely with you to find the most suitable exam level for you to take and will give you all of the support and advice you need to make the right choices. The Spanish language is currency and a certificate to prove your level is an investment in your future.

See our DELE Exam Preparation Course page to find out more information.

4.3. Timetable of your Study Experience Programme

The DELE Preparation Course consists of 20 Spanish classes per week and additional DELE preparation classes. The DELE course takes place between 1.30 pm and 7.30 pm Monday to Friday. There is also a maximum of 8 students in each class and an average of 6, which are some of the lowest figures in the Spanish schools of Madrid.
