The world changes: ELE 2017

1. Who is the ELE Training course for?

Testimonies Spanish teachers
  • Teachers who teach Spanish as a foreign language at Secondary schools, Colleges, or Universities.

  • Native or non-native Spanish teachers with a Spanish level of C1.

  • Spanish Teachers who have had several years of experience teaching and who are currently working on ELE.

2. The objectives of the ELE Training Program

  • To give teachers the tools to achieve dynamic and effective classes in the 2016 classroom.

  • To facilitate work for oral and written production adapted to the latest genre discourse.

  • To provide ELE Teachers with the techniques for effective and cognitive management of Spanish learning/teaching resources.

  • To contrast different teaching methods through observation of an ELE class.

  • To reflect on the importance of linguistic and paralinguistic values within oral expression.

3. Contents

The course consists of three modules:

Theoretical ELE training: 25 hours of lectures, Monday to Friday, from 9.00 to 13:30/14:00.

The participants will receive a CD pack with digital files containing ELE materials, free of rights, for you to consult (articles, books, PhD thesis, research reports, educational activitites), which are organized according to the area of subject of the ELE training course (the subjunctive tense, class observation, dynamic activities to do during classes, constructive participation and communicaction in the classroom, oral communication). It is a comprehensive and up-to-date collection of resources for research, reflection, and educational exploitation in the classroom.

Observation of the ELE Classes

This module consists of three elements:

  • An introductory session which will show the structure of the observation ELE classes.

  • Observation classes of students from AIL Madrid Spanish language school.

  • A reunion to discuss and summarize the observation of the ELE Classes.

The course includes observations of two classes on a Thursday morning. However, if the teacher participants would like to, they can choose to observe 2 or 4 classes on a Thursday afternoon.

Cultural program (optional:

During the afternoon, AIL Madrid offers the following guided cultural visits for the ELE Teachers to enjoy during the training:

  • A visit to the Reina Sofia Musuem.
  • A stroll through the neighborhood of Austurias, Madrid.
  • A visit to the Prado Museum.

5. Methodology of the course

This course is about ELE training with an emphasis on practical approaches. The objective is to being able to apply all the knowledge learned from the course and applying it to the classroom, and to hold a debate for participating teachers on the theoretic elements that have been covered in the guide. This participatory methodology allows you to display, share, and discuss experiences and the presentations of each topic. It also allows you to act more as a facilitators and enables completion of the debate, as well as conclusive achievements that will be useful in teaching ELE, especially with skill integration.

7. Certificate of Attendance and Accreditation of the ELE Course

At the end of the course, teachers will receive a certificate of attendance for the ELE teaching training course from AIL Madrid. This certifies the 25 hours of the course. The AIL Madrid Spanish Language School for foreigners accredited by the Instituto Cervantes, which meets the standards for the highest quality in teaching of the Spanish language.
