General Spanish Language Course

Whether you are a beginner or you’ve been studying Spanish for many years, it never hurts to practice the core language skills: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. This is particularly important when you are entering a Spanish University because you will need to be completely comfortable communicating in Spanish, not only with your University Preparation, learn Spanish, Madridteachers but also your friends, classmates, and advisors. The General Spanish Language Course in the Program will ensure you reach an appropriate level before beginning your studies.


By the end of the course you will be able to:

          • Use Spanish more effectively and with greater confidence
          • Speak more accurately and fluently
          • Use a wider vocabulary, including many colloquial expressions
          • Understand what you read and hear more easily

The General Spanish Language Course is an intensive language course suitable for all levels from beginner to advance. You will be placed in a class appropriate for your level. Each class contains a maximum of 8 students with an average of 5. The small class size maximizes your personalized contact with our dedicated Spanish teachers and enables you to develop meaningful relationships with your fellow students.


The course consists of the following core topics: University Preparation and Spanish Class
  • A comprehensive review and consolidation of key grammar elements
  • Development of communication strategies in formal and informal contexts
  • Development and usage of vocabulary
  • Skills work in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing, to increase ability and confidence
  • Summarizing, paraphrasing, cohesion, synonyms and style
  • Work on individual pronunciation difficulties
  • Practice with complex discussions and debates

You will take twenty lessons a week of the General Spanish Language Course during your first term in the Spanish University Preparation Program. It’s very important that you have a good understanding of core language skills before you move on to the Specialized Spanish Language Course in Term 2.
