VIII ELE Teachers Meeting in AIL Madrid

1. Who is the ELE Training course for?

  • Teachers who teach Spanish as a foreign language at Secondary schools, Colleges, or Universities.

  • Native or non-native Spanish teachers with a Spanish level of C1.

  • Spanish Teachers who have had several years of experience teaching and who are currently working on ELE.

2. The objectives of the ELE Training Program

  • Provide the teacher with the necessary resources to revitalize their classes with technology.

  • Reflect on the needs of teenagers and show tools to engage students.

  • Present the advantages of the new SIELE exam and compare it to DELE.

  • Point out the best strategies to encourage oral participation in the classroom.

  • Consider intercultural importance within teaching/learning of ELE.


3. Contents

The course consists of three modules:

Theoretical ELE training:23 lecture hours from Monday to Friday, 9.00 until 13.30/14.00

A CD with electronic archives will be given to participants. It contains ELE material with the ability to consult it free from rights (articles, books, doctoral thesis, reports of investigations, educational activities), organized in thematic areas of the training course ELE (Nearpod, Observation of Classes, Communicative Activities, SIELE format, etc) . It’s an extensive compilation and contains updated resources for the investigation, reflection and the use of education in the classroom.

Observation of the ELE Classes

This module consists of three elements:

  • An introductory session which will show the structure of the observation ELE classes.

  • Observation classes of students from AIL Madrid Spanish language school.

  • A reunion to discuss and summarize the observation of the ELE Classes.

The course includes observations of two classes on a Thursday morning. However, if the teacher participants would like to, they can choose to observe 2 or 4 classes on a Thursday afternoon.

Cultural program (optional:)

AIL Madrid offers guided visits to notable Museums in the city in the afternoons.

    5. Methodology of the course

    As it is a training ELE course with a practical focus, which objective is to be able to apply to the classroom everything that have been learned, the group of participating teachers is going to debate from theorical elements that will be used as guides. This participative methodology allows to expone, share and debate diverse experiences and practices developed by all the participating teaches, the speakers of each theme are going to act as moderators in order to allow the continuity of the debate such as the achievement of conclusions that can be useful in the teaching activity ELE, and especially when talking about the integration of abilities.

    7. Certificate of Attendance and Accreditation of the ELE Course

    At the end of the course, the participants will receive a certificate of attendance for their training: ELE teachers of AIL Madrid. The course will certify 29 hours of study. As a Spanish school accredited by the Instituto Cervantes, AIL Madrid, complies with the highest standards of Spanish teaching.
