CCSE exam preparation course (constitutional and socio-cultural knowledge exam)

Do you live in Spain and want to become a Spanish national? Since October 2015, it is a requirement that you pass the “constitutional and socio – cultural knowledge” exam  (CCSE) to achieve Spanish nationality.

AIL Madrid, with more than 9 years of experience in teaching Spanish language and culture to foreign students, is also a CCSE examination centre. We will prepare you to pass the test with flying colours, the last step to achieving a new national identity, using our specially structured course, perfectly suited to those who want to achieve this goal.

Structure of the CCSE exam preparation classes

Our classes are the best way to prepare yourself for the CCSE exam. You decide how many classes you want to take, where they are (at your home or office, or at AIL Madrid) and when you want them.

These classes are solely focused on preparing for the exam. They will allow you to acquire immense knowledge about everything you need to know, just as you need to tackle the exam.

At AIL Madrid we have teachers that specialise in the CCSE exam. They know better than anyone the required techniques to prepare for the exam, the questions you are likely to face and they can offer you lots of professional advice.

To sign up for the exam you must first register through the Instituto Cervantes website.
There you will also be able to find useful information about the exam, such as when and where it takes place. (https://examenes.cervantes.es/es/ccse/que-es).

CCSE exam preparation classes at a glance

How many classes can I receive
per week?
As many as you like. We recommend that you take classes in two hour blocks.

When can I start? Any day you like! Including Saturdays and Sundays.

Where will the classes take place? Wherever you prefer: at the AIL Madrid school, at your office or in the comfort of your own home.

What is the timetable? Your CCSE preparation classes are scheduled to your convenience. They can be any day of the week, including weekends, between 08:30 and 22:00.

How long is one class?
Classes at AIL last about 50 minutes, whereas if you take classes at your home or office they will be 60 minutes. Each study session may consist of more than one class.

What is the minimum amount of

Will I receive a certificate when
I finish the course?
Yes! The certificate will show the number of classes you took part in and your attendance.

Group CCSE exam preparation classes

If you would like to prepare for the exam with a friend or family member, you can form your own mini-group of 2+ people with whom you can enjoy your studying with and reduce the individual cost of classes.

Can I cancel my CCSE exam preparation classes?

Yes, you only have to inform our Student Care Team by e-mail 24 hours (one working day) before the class and we will reschedule the class to a time and day more convenient to you. If you advise us after this time, the class cannot be made up.

CCSE exam preparation course topics

The course will touch on topics that can be split into two major groups:

  • Cultural traits and values

    • General knowledge of Hispanic countries (geography, economies and politics, territorial and administrative organization…)
    • Current and historic figures and events (historical events, people and legends, social and cultural events and personalities present in Spanish society and culture)
    • Cultural products and creations (literature, music, film…)
  • Socio – cultural behaviours and norms

    • Standards of living and societal structure (personal identity, family, festivals, education, hygiene…)
    • Interpersonal relations (in the personal and public environment, the professional field, and the education system)
    • Collective identity and lifestyle (sense of belonging to society, tradition and social change, spirituality and religion, cultural integration…)

FAQ - Constitutional and socio-cultural knowledge test (CCSE)

1. How do I sign up for the CCSE exam?

You can sign up for the exam through the Instituto Cervantes web page.

2. How much does the exam cost?

The exam costs 85€, valid for two exam sessions in case of:

  1. You haven´t been able to sit the exam
  2. The test hasn´t been marked

3. When do the CCSE exams take place?

The exams take place every last Thursday of the month except August and December.

4. What is the CCSE exam structure?

The exam consists of 25 questions that are either multiple choice or true/false. 60% of the questions will concern topics such as the government, law and citizen participation and the other 40% will cover culture, history and Spanish societies. The exam lasts for 45 minutes.

5. How long is the CCSE certificate valid?

The CCSE achievement certificate is valid for 4 years.
